Cozy Classic Raglan

S, my daughter, has a birthday coming up. Things are tight right now, so I decided to make her a sweater. Jessie Maed had a new sweater pattern coming out right around the time I planned on starting my latest project, so I of course opted to knit the Cozy Classic Raglan.

I ordered BFL Superwash and Mohair/Silk blend yarn from Dyer Supplier (aff link. Save $50 off your yarn order.) with the intent of dyeing the BFL yellow. But low and behold, my yellow dye went into hiding until after I already started the sweater. Instead, S decided on lilac. A beautiful tonal lilac was the result. I knew ahead of time I was only going to dye the BFL and leave the mohair in white for a (hopefully) gorgeous marled effect with a beautiful halo.

I finished the sweater last night & man oh man! I am not disappointed one bit. The halo is gorgeous, the sweater is squishy soft, and since S had already tried it on to measure the first sleeve, I already know it fits her like a dream. Jessie Maed knocked it out of the park again with another amazing design. The lifted increases give such amazing detail that makes the entire raglan stand out from all the rest! I cannot wait until S’s birthday so I can take better, in action, photos. But for now, here she is.

S opted for fitted sleeves with no waist decreasing/sizing. We went with an XS small size of 34” bust for 0” of ease instead of the recommended positive ease of a couple inches.

After washing it and laying it out to block, I right away grabbed a hank of Mrs. Crosby Loves to Play Hat Box  in  Hummingbird  that had recently been gifted to me. After winding it up in a cake, I cast on a Cozy Classic Raglan in my size.

So far, I’m liking this yarn. However, I have realized that from the beginning of the skein to the end there is a drastic difference in the colors. A LOT of fading going on. As I am not one for alternating skeins while knitting, this might lead to some interesting developments along the way. Stay tuned for more as I get further along.
